Receipt scanning and local purchases

Receipt recognition uses Apple Vision on your iPhone. PriceBack does not upload receipt photographs, PDF files or raw recognized text. The original images and unreviewed text are discarded after review. You choose and correct the purchase entries to retain.

Reviewed item descriptions, item numbers, quantities, prices, discounts, purchase dates, warehouse numbers, notes and savings records are stored on your device. Manual entry remains available. Local data may be included in backups managed through your device settings. PriceBack does not ask for Costco login credentials, membership numbers or payment-card details.

Optional community alerts

Community alerts require an available iCloud account and a separate choice to enable the service. Apple CloudKit processes your app-specific iCloud identifier, tracked item numbers, warehouse numbers, price thresholds and purchase-window dates to deliver matching reports and notification subscriptions. Warehouse numbers and dates can reveal where and when a purchase occurred. PriceBack does not request GPS location.

Enabling alerts does not automatically publish your receipts. Alerts depend on recent contributions for the same item, fixed-size package, warehouse and currency. There is no complete Costco price feed, and notifications are not guaranteed to arrive or identify every price drop.

Only when you contribute prices

On each receipt, you may separately publish selected fixed-size item numbers, net unit prices, warehouse number and purchase date to the community. These records are stored in Apple CloudKit's public database with a random record identifier and an app-specific iCloud author identifier. They do not contain receipt images, raw text, item descriptions, your name, membership number or payment information.

Other users can access these public observations. The author identifier is not your Apple Account email, but it can link contributions made by the same account. Do not contribute information you do not have permission to share. Community reports are user-provided and are not independently verified by Costco.

Sharing a report file

You can also export a price-report file and choose its recipient through the iPhone share sheet. Files contain item numbers, net unit prices, warehouse number and receipt date, plus a random report identifier. Importing a file stores it locally and does not itself publish it to the community. Recipients may retain, change or forward copies.

Notifications and service providers

Apple provides on-device recognition, iCloud/CloudKit infrastructure and push notifications. Local deadline reminders are scheduled on your device. Apple processes account, notification-routing and technical information under its own privacy terms. PriceBack and its infrastructure may process limited service diagnostics to maintain and secure the service.

PriceBack does not include advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs and does not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising. Prices are not collected by automated access to Costco's website.

Retention and deletion

Delete a receipt and its associated purchases from the receipt detail screen; imported reports can be deleted separately. Local backups are controlled through your device or backup provider.

In Community alerts, you can stop subscriptions and withdraw all prices contributed from this installation. A receipt also offers a withdrawal action. Withdrawal requires a connection and the original iCloud account. If it fails, the app shows an error; the cloud records have not necessarily been removed. Turning alerts off or deleting the app does not automatically withdraw public contributions.

Community matching uses observations no more than seven days old. That matching limit is not automatic deletion: cloud contributions can remain until you withdraw them or we remove them. Withdrawal removes records from the service but cannot recall copies already retained by others. Apple controls its own backup and operational retention.

Reports and support

Reporting a community observation sends its identifier and a selected reason to a nonpublic CloudKit moderation record associated with the reporter's app-specific iCloud identifier. Darwich Technologies LLC can review reports and remove problematic content. Blocks are stored on your device and used to exclude contributors from queries and alerts.

If you contact support, we receive the email address, message and attachments you choose to send. Support and moderation information is retained as reasonably needed to respond, protect the service and meet legal obligations. Do not email passwords, membership numbers or payment-card details.

Your requests and policy updates

PriceBack is not directed to children under 13. Privacy, access, correction and deletion requests can be sent to privacy@darwichglobal.com. We may need to verify your request. Support is available at support@darwichglobal.com.
